Young visitors to Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park kicked off the annual celebration of Dr. King’s legacy with a birthday party for the civil rights pioneer on January 15. More than 180 schoolchildren participated in an educational program hosted by the park and supported by America’s National Parks™. The children capped off the program by singing “Happy Birthday” to Dr. King and enjoying birthday cake in Fellowship Hall at Ebenezer Baptist Church with special guest Jennifer Fields, Dr. King’s great niece.
Support for this special program, along with many others at the park, was made possible through visitor purchases at the America’s National Parks™ Store at Martin Luther King, Jr. NHP. America’s National Parks™ stores are operated by Eastern National, an official nonprofit education partner of the National Park Service.
