Moores Creek National Battlefield transformed its interpretive exhibits with a $25,000 grant from America’s National Parks, as part of the America’s 250th History Happens Here Grant Program creating a more accessible and engaging visitor experience.
The enhancements included audio descriptions of the visitor center exhibits, an interactive panel exploring colonial music through push-button audiovisual features, a large interpretive panel about the naval stores industry, and a tactile map offering a hands-on way to experience the site. The funding also supported a cooper demonstrating the traditional craft of barrel making during the park’s 250th anniversary commemoration.
More than 17,000 people visited during the first three days after the new exhibits were unveiled, and the park looks forward to sharing these stories with many more visitors in the years ahead.
