In 2023, the Canal Exploration Center in Cuyahoga Valley National Park used $5,384 in Eastern National (the parent of America’s National Parks™) donations to support several National Park Service (NPS) programs, such as Teacher–Ranger–Teacher. Funds also covered fees for Cuyahoga Valley National Park and citizen scientists to participate in the NPS Dragonfly Mercury Project (DMP). Since 2009, DMP has been working to understand the risks of mercury in the environment. Data recorded from dragonfly larvae helps elected officials make government policies regarding the protection of human and wildlife health.
